The carpenter created a mock-up to help us "see" the future posts and ceiling casing he designed for the back porch. 4-inch square vertical beams make it hard to do the original turned posts, so we choose a decorated square post with graduated sizes.

Classic pillars have the extended cap. This feature isn't pleasing to any of us, but sometimes you just have to follow the 100- year tradition and let the crown overflow the casing. |
